Although nursing is the most respected profession in the world (Gallup, 2020), it is not exempt from one of the most prevalent issues affecting humanity: Racism.

The Georgia Nurses Association Social Justice and Racial Equity Team provides leadership and dialogue around awareness, collaboration and education on the realities experienced by the nursing profession. The forum How to Deal with a Racist Patient will offer a true experience case study from an on duty nurse at the bedside. This forum will present various layers of how racial patient interaction affects all areas of the healthcare delivery system. The forum will encourage discussion around the case study and offer opportunities for evaluations on potential responses in such situations.
