Additional Information

Georgia Nurses Association Legislative Institute (GNALI) is a six-month advocacy program (January–June) that trains Georgia registered nurses to be effective champions for their patients and profession. Non-GNA members and nursing students are welcome.

Participants learn how the legislative process works at the local and state levels, how to coordinate grassroots efforts with nursing specialty societies, patient advocacy groups, community organizations, and other stakeholders, and how to build productive relationships with elected officials.

You’ll gain real-world experience during the legislative session, meet one-on-one with legislators and staff, learn from industry professionals, and connect with a network of change-makers.

By the end of GNALI, you will be able to:

  • Advocate confidently for patients, nurses, and the profession

  • Communicate nursing and health policy issues in terms legislators understand

  • Engage effectively to advance and protect nursing priorities

All participants receive a Legislative Toolkit. Meetings are conducted virtually unless otherwise noted.
