Posted over 5 years ago by Charlotte Endemano
On March 31st, the Georgia Nurses Association held the first session of the GNA COVID-19 Virtual Support Group for Front Line Nurses.
Moderated by psychologist and therapist Dr. Betsy Gard, PhD, the virtual self-care session allowed nurses to share about their experiences in the front lines of the epidemic, the physical and emotional challenges they experience, and the sense of fear and anxiety they feel for themselves and their loved ones. They also shared coping and self-care practices and digital applications that have been helpful for them, their units and their families. In addition, Dr. Gard provided them with guidance and tips for managing their concerns and mental and emotional health.
One participant shared “this was helpful and encouraging.”
The next session will be held on Tuesday, April 7th at 12:00 PM. Space is limited. Participants will be able to join on a first come, first served basis.
The GNA COVID-19 Virtual Support Group for Front Line Nurses is one of the ways the Georgia Nurses Association endeavors to provide the support our colleagues need during this challenging and life-changing time. The identity of the participants remains anonymous and the sessions are not recorded.
