Dear Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that I write to you today. This past weekend, nurse Yolanda Coar from Augusta University succumbed to COVID-19. Yolanda, a committed nurse and Georgia Nurses Association Member, was on the frontlines battling the pandemic. You can read more about her here.
We believe this is the 10th nurse in Georgia to lose her life in the fight against COVID-19. We earnestly ask all of you to remain vigilant and protect yourselves.
And we ask the public to help contain this deadly virus by following the 3 W’s.
- Wear A Mask
- Wash Your Hands
- Watch Your Distance, maintain at least 6 feet while social distancing
Please reach out to me directly at president@georgianurses.org if you have had a colleague, friend or family member, who was a nurse, lose their life to COVID-19. GNA would like to respectfully honor our fallen heroes for making the ultimate sacrifice for the health and wellbeing of their patients and fellow Georgians.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Yolanda's family.
In Service to You,
Richard Lamphier, RN
President, Georgia Nurses Association
