From the Georgia Board of Healthcare Workforce

The Georgia Healthcare Workforce Board (GHCWB) is proud to announce they will be issuing $3,000,000 in funds to nursing schools with waitlists in Georgia through the appropriations act.  Interested schools should read the application carefully to see what permitted use of these funds as the goal for these funds is to create a greater level of practice-ready nurses ready to work in Georgia.  The application also allows schools to request a certain amount of money up to a limit, therefore matching needs with resources best.

“Healthcare delivery is a team sport and nurses are key members of that team.  I am grateful to be part of the board as we work with nursing schools during an unprecedented time for healthcare” says Terri McFadden, MD who serves as the Board Chairperson.  The funds will be accessible to the winning schools as early as February 2023.  “The ability to assist nursing schools in this unique time in healthcare is remarkable.  I am optimistic these funds will not only help the schools but ultimately the communities where these nurses will practice.  I am excited to be part of this endeavor” says Dr. Carolyn Clevenger who is a board member for the GHCWB and a Nurse Practitioner.

“There is a broad set of use cases a school can use the funds; the goal was to have each school who wins use the funds in a manner that helps them best,” says Executive Director Chet Bhasin, FACHE.  All the details are listed on the application on the GHCWB website and interested schools have until January 6, 2023, to submit their application.  The GHCWB looks forward to issuing these funds to those schools that can demonstrate their ability to increase the pipeline of nurses in Georgia.
