April 27, 2023- The Georgia Nurses Foundation is proud to announce the Amerigroup Rural Georgia Nursing Scholarship- a fifth addition to the Foundation’s Scholarship Program.
“In the Fall of 2022, health insurance company Amerigroup made a generous donation of $35,000 to the Foundation to support our mission: To foster the welfare and wellbeing of nurses, and promote and advance the nursing profession, thereby enhancing the health of the public,” said GNF President Wanda Jones, BSN, RN, MSN, FNP-BC.
“The Foundation purposed the funds to create the Amerigroup Rural Georgia Nursing Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded to qualifying Licensed Professional Nurses (LPN) enrolled in an accredited Associate or Bachelor of Nursing program to become a Registered Nurse. Among other requirements, qualifying applicants must have a strong desire and commitment to practicing as a registered nurse in rural Georgia,” added Jones.
“We are committed to helping alleviate the nursing shortage in the state and to ensure quality access to care to every Georgian, no matter where they live,” Jones continued. “One of the ways we can accomplish this goal is by helping Licensed Professional Nurses who want to become registered nurses and have a desire to practice in rural Georgia, do so. We are extremely thankful for Amerigroup’s outstanding contribution.”
More information about the Amerigroup Rural Georgia Nursing Scholarship and application may be found at Amerigroup Rural Georgia Nursing Scholarship | Georgia Nurses Association | Nursing Network. The application deadline is July 15, 2023, at 10:00 PM.
