Statement from the Georgia Nurses Association on the Passing of Dr. Darlene Ruffin-Alexander

June 5, 2025 - The Georgia Nurses Association extends our deepest condolences to the Atlanta Black Nurses Association (ABNA) and the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) on the passing of Dr. Darlene Ruffin-Alexander, President Emeritus of ABNA.
Dr. Ruffin-Alexander was a pioneering leader, mentor, and unwavering advocate for Black nurses and underserved communities throughout Georgia and beyond. Her commitment to nursing, equity, and excellence created a lasting legacy that continues to inspire generations of nurses.
We honor her tremendous contributions and join the ABNA/NBNA community in mourning her loss. Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by her extraordinary life and service.
May her legacy of leadership, compassion, and advocacy continue to illuminate our path in nursing.
